Mosman Park Tragedy

A tragic suspected murder-suicide has shocked Perth’s western suburbs after four members of the same family were found dead inside a home in Mosman Park on Friday morning.

Western Australia Police confirmed the bodies of two teenage boys, aged 14 and 16, and their parents—a 50-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman—were discovered at a residence on Mott Close.

Detective Acting Inspector Jessica Securo said police were alerted after a person known to the family attended the home for a pre-arranged appointment and received no response. Officers subsequently entered the property and made the grim discovery.

“Police located four persons deceased, along with three deceased pets,” Acting Inspector Securo said, describing the incident as a “devastating tragedy.”

No Signs of Violence, Note Found at Scene

Investigators have indicated that no weapon was used and there were no apparent signs of a violent struggle inside the house. Police also stated there was no evidence of violence involved in the deaths of the family’s two dogs and a cat.

A note was found at the premises and is now forming a key part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities confirmed the bodies were located in different areas of the home, and a precise timeline of events is still being established.

“At this stage, we are trying to determine when the incident occurred—whether overnight or earlier,” Acting Inspector Securo said.

No Prior Family Violence Reports

Police revealed there were no previously reported family violence matters involving the household. However, investigators noted that both children had experienced significant health challenges, a factor that will be carefully considered as part of the inquiry.

The matter is currently being treated as a suspected murder-suicide, though police stress the investigation is still in its early stages. Authorities have assured the community there is no ongoing threat.

Officers and Community Left in Shock

A heavy police presence remains in the area, with several streets cordoned off as forensic teams continue their work. Neighbours described the incident as deeply distressing and entirely out of character for the quiet, affluent cul-de-sac.

Acting Inspector Securo acknowledged the emotional toll on first responders.

“Our officers were in shock upon attending the scene and are being provided with appropriate support.”

Residents have been urged to avoid the area while investigations continue.

Support services are available for anyone affected by the incident.
